The Effect of Emotional Relaxation on the Reduction of Anxiety of Nursing Studens


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of emotional relaxation by themselves on nursi g students. Quasi-experimental study attempted to establish the purpose. A sample of nursing students
selected from Department of Nursing in the D. College in Sokcho and assigned to an experimental on a control group.
The data was collected between December 5, 1987 and December 7, 1987. The instrument used i.r this study was the state Trait Anxiety Inventory developed by Spielberger. Subjects Were administer d this instrument Pre-and Post intervention.
The intervention used for the experiment consists of two kinds. One is Benson¢¥s relaxation techniq e as the response incompatible with anxiety response. The other is only rest. Data analysis was done .y use of the t-test, and X2-test.
The result of this study were as follows.
The first hypothesis, "Experimental group who are experienced emotional relaxation will show low-r degree of A state-Anxiety scores" than control group who are experienced rest was accepted (t = -5.19, p-= .000). The second hypothesis, "There will be a difference between Pre and Post A-State Anxiety sco - s in experimental group who experienced emotional relaxation" was accepted (t=9.20, p=.000). ing students.
In conclusion, the researcher thinks that it is necessary that nursing students used for emotional relation technique to reduce their anxiety level. This will enable them to have positive attitude on their crisis and to achieve effective work.
